San Marcos kitchens come in two flavors, and we work on both. Up in San Elijo Hills, you have newer hillside master-planned homes with open layouts and HOA design rules to respect. Closer to downtown and Mission Road, you have older homes with dated wiring, tired cabinets, and floor plans that close the kitchen off from everyone else. Add inland North County summers that get genuinely hot, plus families who actually cook and gather, and you need a kitchen built for real life. We have remodeled both kinds since 2014, and we know what each one needs.

What a San Marcos Kitchen Remodel Includes

Every kitchen is different, but most San Marcos projects we handle cover the same core scope. We walk your space, listen to how your family actually uses it, then build a plan around that.

  • Custom or semi-custom cabinets sized to your layout, not a warehouse box
  • Countertops in quartz, granite, or butcher block, with the right edge and seam plan
  • New flooring that stands up to foot traffic, spills, and dogs
  • Updated electrical and plumbing brought to current code, including added outlets and circuits
  • Lighting: recessed, under-cabinet, and pendants over islands
  • Range hoods and ventilation sized for how you cook
  • Layout changes, including opening walls to connect the kitchen to living space

What Makes San Marcos Kitchens Different

San Marcos isn’t a one-size-fits-all city, and the kitchen work reflects that. A few things come up here more than almost anywhere else in the county.

  • San Elijo Hills HOA review. If you’re in the master-planned community, exterior changes and sometimes window or venting changes need design committee approval. We build the submittal, wait for sign-off, and don’t cut into anything until it’s approved.
  • Older homes need system updates. Homes off Mission Road and the older tracts often have aluminum or undersized wiring, galvanized plumbing, and panels that can’t carry a modern kitchen. We update the bones before the pretty parts go in.
  • Inland heat and ventilation. San Marcos runs hotter than the coast. Good range-hood ventilation and proper insulation around the kitchen keep the room livable when the valley bakes in summer.

What a Kitchen Remodel Costs in San Marcos

Honest numbers up front. Your final price depends on size, finishes, and how much the layout and systems change, but here’s where most San Marcos kitchens land.

  • Refresh ($28k–$42k): new cabinets or refacing, countertops, flooring, lighting, and paint with the existing layout intact
  • Full remodel ($42k–$70k): new layout, custom cabinets, quartz or stone counters, updated electrical and plumbing, and a permitted wall change or two
  • High-end ($70k+): structural layout changes, premium appliances, custom millwork, and high-grade stone and finishes throughout

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in San Marcos?

Most San Marcos kitchen remodels run $28,000 to $42,000 for a refresh, $42,000 to $70,000 for a full remodel with a new layout and updated systems, and $70,000 and up for high-end work. We give you a written estimate after seeing your kitchen.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

Most San Marcos kitchens take six to ten weeks once work begins, depending on scope. Layout changes, custom cabinets, and system updates add time. Older homes that need rewiring or replumbing can run longer. We give you a realistic schedule before we start.

Do I need HOA approval in San Elijo Hills?

Often, yes. If your remodel changes anything visible from outside, like windows or exterior venting, the San Elijo Hills design committee usually needs to approve it first. We prepare the submittal and wait for sign-off before touching that part of the work.

Are you licensed?

Yes. We’re a licensed California contractor, license #1004363, and we’ve served San Diego County since 2014. We pull the proper permits and handle inspections on every kitchen remodel we do in San Marcos.
