Owner-led, fixed-bid
Good flooring is more than a finish, it’s the foundation you walk on every day. Done right, it lasts decades. Done wrong, you get squeaks, lifting planks, and cracked grout within a year. Owned by our team and serving San Diego County since 2014, we install luxury vinyl plank, hardwood, tile, and laminate the way it’s supposed to be done, starting with the subfloor and finishing with clean, tight lines. We’re fully licensed (CA Lic #1004363), we pull permits when the job calls for it, and we treat your home like we’d treat our own.
Flooring Types We Install
Different rooms call for different floors, and we install all the materials San Diego homeowners actually want. We’ll walk your space, talk through how each room gets used, and recommend what fits your budget and lifestyle, not whatever has the highest markup.
- Luxury vinyl plank (LVP): waterproof, scratch-resistant, and great for kitchens, baths, and homes with kids or pets.
- Hardwood & engineered wood: classic and warm; engineered handles our coastal humidity better than solid in many homes.
- Tile: porcelain and natural stone for floors, showers, and high-traffic entryways.
- Laminate: a budget-friendly option that mimics wood and stone without the price tag.
Tile Floors, Showers & Backsplashes
Tile is where shortcuts show up fastest, and where they cost the most to fix. A shower that wasn’t waterproofed correctly rots the wall behind it for months before you ever see a stain. We don’t do it that way.
- Tile floors: properly set and leveled so you don’t get lippage or cracked grout lines.
- Custom showers: full waterproofing membranes, sloped pans, and curbless or standard builds.
- Kitchen & bath backsplashes: clean layout, tight grout lines, and finished edges.
Every wet area we build gets a real waterproofing system behind the tile, not just grout and hope.
Subfloor Prep & Why It Matters
The floor you walk on is only as good as what’s underneath it. San Diego has a lot of older homes and a lot of concrete slab construction, and both bring their own issues. Skip the prep and your new floor will telegraph every flaw below it.
- Slab cracks & unevenness: common in older San Diego foundations; we assess, fill, and level before anything goes down.
- Moisture: slabs can wick moisture that destroys wood and loosens adhesives; we test and add barriers where needed.
- Squeaks & soft spots: we re-secure and repair subflooring in older homes so your floor feels solid underfoot.
This is the part a handyman skips to save a day. We don’t, because it’s the part that determines whether your floor lasts.
What Flooring Costs in San Diego
Everybody wants a number, so here are honest, installed ranges for San Diego, material plus labor. Final pricing depends on material grade, room layout, and how much prep your subfloor needs.
- Luxury vinyl plank (LVP): roughly $4–9 per square foot installed, depending on plank quality.
- Tile: roughly $10–25 per square foot installed; natural stone and intricate patterns sit at the top.
- Hardwood & engineered: roughly $8–15 per square foot installed, depending on species and finish.
Demo, subfloor repair, and stair or transition work are quoted separately. We put it all in writing up front.
Our Process & Why Licensed Install Wins
A cheap install isn’t cheap when you’re paying to redo it. The handyman rate looks great until the planks lift, the grout cracks, or the shower leaks. Hiring licensed isn’t about paperwork; it’s about accountability.
- Consultation & measure: we walk the space, talk materials, and give you a clear written quote.
- Prep & demo: old flooring out, subfloor repaired, leveled, and moisture-checked.
- Installation: precise layout and clean cuts by a crew that does this every day.
- Walkthrough: we inspect together and don’t call it done until you’re happy.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a flooring installation take?
Most single rooms take one to three days; a full home runs about a week, depending on square footage, material, and how much subfloor prep is needed. We give you a realistic timeline in your written quote.
Can you install new flooring over my existing floor?
Sometimes, it depends on the existing surface and what you’re installing. Some materials can go over tile or vinyl in good condition, but it’s often better to remove the old floor so we can inspect and prep the subfloor.
Do I really need subfloor prep, or is that an upsell?
It’s what protects your investment. San Diego slabs crack and wick moisture, and older homes have uneven, squeaky subfloors. Skip prep and your new floor fails early. We only do the prep your specific floor actually needs.
What flooring holds up best in San Diego’s climate?
For most homes, luxury vinyl plank and quality engineered wood handle our coastal humidity and indoor-outdoor living better than solid hardwood. Tile is unbeatable in wet areas. We match the material to each room.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We’re a fully licensed California contractor (CA Lic #1004363), carry insurance, and pull permits when a job requires them, real accountability and a warranty that means something.
